Fareham College invites local businesses to get behind CETC
This morning, Fareham College invited local businesses to a breakfast briefing to learn more about the expansion of its Civil Engineering Training Centre (CETC) in partnership with the Solent Civil Engineering Employers Group.
CETC is currently a two-acre mock construction site that offers a unique and pioneering Groundwork and Civil Engineering apprenticeship and was set up in response to a county-wide skills shortage impacting civil engineering growth and expansion in the south.
The success of the programme has led to plans for a new multi-million-pound campus, which has received Solent LEP funding, and will be located close to the college’s existing Centre of Excellence in Engineering and Advanced Skills Training (CEMAST) in Lee-on-the-Solent. The project aims to deliver more than 1,600 groundwork and civil engineering apprenticeships over a five-year period.
The launch presentation, which took place at Fareham Innovation Centre today, gave delegates from groundwork and civil engineering companies, as well as main contractors and developers, the opportunity to find out more about CETC, the training it will provide and how they can be involved in the future of this exciting project.
